The school year generally runs Sept to June (or August to May for college folk). There are 2 points of vacation time in that span, 'holiday break' which is really 'Christmas break', and then there's Spring break. The Christmas break for college folk happens right after exams for the semester (and the new semester starts at the beginning of the new year), but for regular schools (grades K-12), it happens just before the end of the semester (so any mid-terms/exams are held shortly after the new year starts, when many of the students brains are still on vacation, thus leaving them at a disadvantage). Spring break happens... In the Spring time! (WOW!) For college folk, it varies from the end of Feb to the end of March (each college/university schedules it differently), and for K-12 it usually coincides with Easter and/or the time change (Daylight Saving Time). Of course, being that our oh-so-wonderful government decided to stir up trouble, they voted to extend daylight saving time by a few weeks (start it sooner, end it later). But that's another topic. I think we get more hollidays though o.o we start in mid august back from our hollidays which began late june early jully. We have a weeks break mid october (october week >.>) and then christmas break for 2 weeks.
