OK — have been messing about with this thing for about six months now and I keep coming back, so thought I'd write something up since someone asked me the other day. Am in the UK, mainly bet football and racing, small stakes, just so you know where I'm coming from.

What got me on it was honestly a bit daft — I never could get my head round what an e/w payout actually was with 1/5 odds a place. Basically I'd eyeball it and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in before I place anything, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator tool is the one I'm on daily — you drop in the price and your stake and you get profit and total return straight away, either odds format. There's also the multiples — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, a yankee, honestly that's where most people I know lose track. Have a go yourself, it lives at patent bet calculator and it's free with no account nonsense.

What actually made a difference was the nerdier bits. The probability calculator and it makes obvious how much the bookie's taking, plus a kelly calculator — I stick to fractional kelly as the full version is far too aggressive. The dutching one gets used a fair bit if I'm splitting a race.

Not all sunshine though. The design is a bit basic — zero frills, which honestly I don't mind but some will. Phone-wise it's fine though the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. Also there's no app, it's browser only — slight shame but worth saying.

Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, does what it says. If you still works out returns on a calculator app, have a look — saved me a fair few dumb bets I'd have regretted.
